LIKE IT!!!

Had this for about 1 week and can’t get enough! So simple to use (I’m technically challenged) just place the ingredients in, set the size and the color crust and push start. I’m looking forward to making the more “specialty” breads (comes w/ a ton of recipies) and pizza dough. Highly recommend.
Not for cooks in elevations over 2000 Ft
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
Bought this last year and tried about 5-6 recipes several times, at different loaf sizes, using recipes that came with the machine as well as out of reliable cookbooks. No luck. Every loaf collapsed and baked into a dense, inedible mound of dryness. Tried to return it, but had passed the Amazon return time. Cuisinart was not particularly helpful–made us return and try another machine twice even though I clarified that I thought the issue had to do with the rise times programmed as part of the equipment, not the product itself. Fortunately, since we live in California, the shipping back and forth costs were paid by the company (CA law). Finally, after the third return, they gave us credit, which we finished up using on a different product. That nonsense took a year and many phone calls to negotiate! As a longtime Cuisinart customer, I found their customer service lacking in quality. Since then, I have started baking by hand, using a wet dough recipe from the PBS show America’s Test Kitchen. Also considering trying the cookbook, _Artisan Bread in 5 Minutes a Day_–as making bread is relatively simple–but the timing is the hard part–while adapting some “high elevation” tweaking to the recipes (didn’t grow up baking at high elevations so that has been a learning curve). The low star rating is for the issues we faced with Cuisinart in returning the product, which does not adapt to high elevation climates. I wish Cuisinart would address this issue by building better time options into the machine design.
Nothing small of brilliant

Initally bought an Oster breadmaker on a Black Friday special but had to return it because of collapsing loaves of bread by the end of baking. Got this one since we liked the thought of baking bread at home. What a difference. Have made multiple loaves of bread from the included recipe book and they have all turned out perfect. Like the feature to remove the paddle although it works fine if you do not since we make many loaves on the delay timer so we have fresh bread in the morning. The machine looks and feels sturdy. would highly recomend this to anyone looking for a solid breadmaker

Simple to use, simple to clean and produces the best tasting bread as well as filling the house with a tasty fragrance.
Wife became a bread master
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Absolutely fantastic product. Home-made, you-know-what-is-in-it breads is a hit in our family now. This item is simple to use and produces pretty doggone excellent breads…from white to wheat.
We (my wife
primarily does whole wheat breads, with the occasional white variant. Everything, thus far, has turned out fantastic. Simple to use with fantastic results. NOTE: READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE YOU START. New people TRULY need to read it. It gives vital information that you need to know. READ!
The ONLY problem I have with this machine is the beeping. Yes, being ‘beeped’ to inform that it’s time to add seeds, nuts, etc. is fantastic. BUT, the annoying part is that it will NOT SHUT UP! It does a series of 5 beeps FOUR TIMES to inform you to add your extra ingredients. Fantastic! Except, if you’re there at the first set of beeps to add, the doggone machine will CONTINUE TO BEEP the remaining 3 times! Hitting the button does nothing! This continues to occur at the six-beep mark (to fondle the dough). Only the final beep mode responds to the button to SHUSH.
So, all-in-all, this bread machine rocks. If Cuisinart can enhance it with a “SHUSH…IVE ADDED IT” feature, it would be perfect.
disappointing product, terrible customer service
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I bought this product in August and it worked fantastic for two months. Then the touchpad stopped working. Customer service told me how to reset it and that seemed to work. The paddle broke during making the very next loaf of bread; it took 4-6 weeks to get a replacement paddle as they were “back-ordered”. I made one loaf successfully when the new paddle arrived. During baking the second loaf, the heating element quit and I was left with a half-baked loaf. I called Cuisinart asking for a refund and was told they don’t do that, but would send a replacement machine, shipping at my expense. I did talk them into paying the shipping, but they have no expedited shipping so I will wait a couple of weeks for the replacement. I have to return the ancient machine at my expense. This, in my opinion, is poor customer service. I hope I got a dud the first time and that the replacement is problem free or I will be out $90. By the way, they only give the remainder of the original warranty on the replacement. When it worked, it made excellent bread, but reckon twice about buying this product.

Cusinart bread machine CBK 100
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
This machine makes a excellent tasting, nice SMALL loaf of bread! But coming from a machine that broke down because of a small part and not being able to get a new part is discouraging! This one will probably be the same! I’m disappointed with the horizontal pan for the bread, which is SMALL! Where with my ancient Breadman (also bought from Amazon, 2yrs ancient!) machine I got a large 2 lb. loaf! This machine makes a loaf that is about 1/3 the size and is supposed to be a 2 lb loaf also!! These Brains in these large companies figure that to send the MFGing to China and not make any repair parts is going to endear us for their intelligence? Buy this machine if you want to make small loafs instead of having a regular sized loaf. The recipe book has a lot of specialty recipes that are fine for small parties but you’ll be making loaves for a week if you have an average size party! Needless to say I’m very disappointed with this Cuisinart!
Because of the small size of the loaf the two of us have to make two loaves a week for our needs!
Worst buy ever !

Arriving in a timely manner, the bread machine was packed inside 3 HUGE boxes–on first inspection there were several small dents on the top of the machine- but I was willing to overlook- I am not a picky person.
First time I used it, I was in my computer room when I realized my house was filling up with black smoke !!! The bread machine ! I unplugged and rushed it outside -then opened all my windows to get rid of the acrid smell.
Not one to give up easily, and being a sucker for punishment, I cleaned it out and gave it another try. It produced a brick like loaf, so heavy I could have used it as a doorstop !I tried yet again, this time with a store bought mix. Same “rock” result.
The LOUD consistent beeping that imitated my doorbell sent my dogs crazy– me too !
The least of my problems was having to stand on a stool to view the controls !
“Simple return” was a joke- no way this monstrous item would fit in my T-Bird !
I had to coral a relative with a truck, and pay U.P.S.the princely sum of $26.00 due to the huge size of the box !
But it did arrive in a timely manner !

Not as simple to use as the last one we had but it makes tasty bread.
Made 4 loaves and returned it

I am not sure if it was a defective device or not. I made a loaf of white bread initially (with the given recipe book) and it was very dense, pale crusted, and inedible. I chalked it up to “the first time” and proceeded to make another bread, this time a honey wheat. Same result, dense and the crust looked terrible. Next time I made a wheat bread with nuts in it and WATCHED the whole process through. It did not even incorporate the nuts just left them on the outside crust and I got the same dense rock that I got the previous two times. Then as one last attempt, i tried to make a quick bread which requires no yeast (e.g. banana bread). It even failed in making that as it came out more dense than a lead weight. I wasted lots of time on this and am very dissatisfied.
Customer service very excellent, but paddle broke on 2nd use

The paddle broke on the second use. I called Amazon and they are sending a replacement machine straight away. I do see that there is another person that bought this item who had the paddle break straight away too.
flattened wavy tops on loaves
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
This is our first bread machine. My mom had one years ago and never had any problems. We have had it about 2 weeks and have made 3 loaves of the basic white bread recipe for 2lb loaf. Each time the bread looks as though it has risen very well but in the last 30-40 min of the cycle which I assume is the actual baking time we notice that the top deflates some and is a bit wavy when done baking. The loaves taste fantastic and the texture and everything else seems fine — just not a nice rounded top as should be. We really like having the homemade bread. Does anyone else have this problem and know of any solutions. In the troubleshooting guide it seems as though this problem is when there is high humidity– but the first 2 loaves were not made on a humid day. Thanks for any info. wanted to perfect this loaf before trying any others.
read the instructions first, some mistakes in recipes.
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
this is my first time using a bread machine. unfortunately I can’t make white bread now since I am doing low carb diet, so I tried only low carb ones, I threw out 3 loaves before we carefully read the instructions. YOU HAVE TO read them very well, every small info is vital, once you read them it is simple to use, you can’t leave the machine alone at first until you are an expert in your recipe since you might need to add water or flour, you can’t sleep while it is working because it is gonna beep many times. I also noticed some mistakes in the amount of ingredients , so double check the numbers by comparing 1.5lb to 2lb. I also made my very successful low carb bread according to a recipe from a book and in the whole wheat cycle while they say use basic (white) cycle. my bread had risen very well but came out gummy, may be all low carb breads come like that.. the instruction book is very informative in general and has a lot of recipes.
I won’t make my own bread if it is not for low carb bread being expensive and not available. I would prefer a machine rather than kneading by hand and trying to make appropriate temp for the dough. in this machine you can use any kind of alive yeast… I agree you have to stand on your tip toes to see the screen.
again , read the instructions before using and follow them to the letter. you are gonna throw few loaves before you get excellent one.
excellent machine

I’m very pleased I sow this machine on amazon. After reading all reviews I chose to give it at try.
It’s very simple to operate. Manual is very clear and understandable. The delay option is simple and convenient if you are busy person like I’m. Today I’m making second loft of bread mix. First one came out perfect and tasty. My family was amazed and ate the whole loft of bread for supper.
Machine it self is very sturdy. It’s working silent and not jumping on the table during kneading process as I sow reviews on other brand machines. Beeping sound is loud, it might bother some people, but for me it’s perfect, because my office ( I’m working from home ) is too far from the kitchen.
Tomorrow I’ll try to bake bread from the recipe that came in the manual; there is a lot of recipes in manual book.
Over all I like this bread maker so much, that ordered one for my best friends birthday !!!
Updating December 11.
I like machine so much, that I bake bread every day ! It’s so much fun to bake different bread every day. Nearly all of them came out perfect, unless I make mistake in measuring ingredients or place too much yeast. Bread machine recipes book is a huge help in understanding bread making. We didn’t buy a single bread loft from the supermarket since I got this machine
Miracle for the gluten free diet
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
My son was diagnosed with celiac about 6 months ago and was being a excellent sport eating food for life brown rice bread- but he really missed bread. I had heard a breadmaker was the answer so i followed the amazon reviews to this one and have not been disappointed- I use Gluten free pantry everyday bread mix and it has been tasty- the only problem i have encountered is the liquids must be lukewarm- not hot and not cold in order for the bread to rise properly. Other minor details, because the dough is sticky, it is hard to remove the paddle before baking so there is a small indentation and slash mark in the finished product which is cosmetic only and if you are not there to remove the bread when it finishes cooking, the crust will darken quite a bit- doesn’t interfere with taste. My son can finally delight in a PB&J sandwich.
SUPER SIMPLE MACHINE
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I absolutely like this bread machine! Never thought it would be so simple to bake fresh bread.
All you do is add the ingredients, press the appropriate button and walk away, it’s that simple.
Bread comes out perfect every time! Comes with fantastic recipe booklet with dozens of bread recipes.
My favorite part about this bread machine is you can remove the paddle before the baking cycle, this prevents that large hideous hole in the bottom of the loaf.
My only gripe with this machine is, during the kneed process, some gray looking matter seems to come from the paddle or the bearings that mix into the dough, it did this on the first 2 loafs but is dissipating, I was able to remove the gray stuff from the dough though, other than this, the machine is perfect.
poor temp control = poor bread
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
This was a replacement for my ancient Oster breadmaker, which was fantastic. It never made a terrible loaf of bread. Unfortunately, this Cuisinart has yet to make a decent loaf.
Each time, the dough rises nicely on 1st rise, but not at all on final rise. Each time loaf is extremely dense with a pale, tough crust. I have been using breadmakers for about 12 years and am a very experienced from scratch baker. This is very disappointing. Will return.
Excellent Value for the Price
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I have had this bread machine for only a couple of weeks now; to date it is doing a very nice job as I experiment with new recipes. The breads I have made include White, Pseudo Sourbread, New York Rye, Cheedar Chive Bread, and Sauerkraut Rye. All have turned out very well and keep well for about a week when wrapped.
I like being able to remove the paddle before the last rise and bake.
The only thing I do not like is the inability to pause and restart. I will wait and see if it holds up for an acceptable amount of time.
Works Fantastic!

Fantastic buy. Simple to use, the menu is simple to know just push a couple buttons and walk away.
Fabulous bread machine
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I absolutely like this machine. The very first day I did have distress reading the digital show. Became familiar with it very quickly. I have made many loaves of bread and reckon I will never go back to buying bread at a supermarket again. The sweet breads like carrot and banana bread come out fabulous also. The machine is simple to use and the instruction book is very clear. It beeps to remind you to add ingredients and beeps loudly when finished. This cuisinart is attractive and worth every penny. I know you would be as pleased as I am to own it.
Cuisinart CBK-100, a excellent buy
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This inexpensive breadmaker is everything I had hoped. I had used a Breadman for over 8 years, making over 1500 loaves of bread over that time!! Incredible how it adds up, as I have allergies and so have to make my own bread. This breadmaker is up to the task for me, and the setting for light crust really works and the crust is better than I ever had with the Breadman. The Breadman died a month or so ago and I was in the market for a new machine and ran across this one and chose to try it. If you are reading this, the only irritating thing is that it beeps too much for me, I would like a setting to have less beeps, but other than that, it works fantastic!
Cuisinart Breadmaker – CBK-100
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I recently bought the CBK-100 Cuisinart Breadmaker and am very pleased with it for the most part. The paddle will make a honestly deep indentation in the loaf if not removed at the right time. If I am nearby and can remove it, then the loaf only has that small hole in the bottom which doesn’t bother me.
This comment might be made about all breadmaking machines, but I am not sure. Using a bread mix (I have bought the Hodgson’s Mill brand and used it) gives me the best results.
Oh, I don’t know if this is a excellent thing or not; I am eating much more bread. Probably, not, but I do try to stick with the whole grain types.
Simple to Use

I like the ease of use of this product. Couldn’t be simpler. I’ve only tried a few of the recipes, but they’ve come out fine.
fantastic bread machine
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
We have only been able to use this machine once, but it turned out a terrific loaf of bread. We used the delay feature. It was so simple to use. Just add the ingredients as directed, follow steps for whatever cycle you want, and the next thing you know, fresh bread is ready. There are only two of us, so the size loaf it makes is perfect. Next on the agenda is cinnamon raisin bread for this weekend. We are very pleased with this machine and would recommend it.
Expected better from Cuisinart
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Thanks to Amazon, we got the product before the weekend instead of after (ETA was Monday) and we got to try it out the very day we got it.
I was impressed by the fact that the breadmaker did more than just bake bread – it can knead (pizza!!!) dough, bake cakes and make jams etc. Personally I don’t like specialized appliances that just serve one narrow purpose, so this was a huge plus for me.
We baked a plain white bread and it came out fantastic! Can’t wait to try out more recipes in the book and on the web.
Things I didn’t like
1. I have a brushed-metal Cusinart blender.. colors don’t match!
2. The LCD show is hard to look at as it is (you have to bend over the breadmaker and look straight down at it). Not having a light in it, makes it even harder to read.
3. The “delay timer” that the product description and manual talk about is really the total time for baking. After you add the ingredients and select the appropriate mode, it will tell you the time it would take to bake. You can increase this time to whenever you want the bread to be ready. Being an engineer, this was a small counter-intuitive to me (delay means, do something AFTER the specified time). Other may find it more intuitive.
4. There is no simple way to figure out how soon a bread can be baked. I wish the recipes had a time range (since it depends on the size and crust type) so I could easily narrow down my choices if I need to bake something in a rush (give me recipes that I bake in 2 hours, say)
Overall, I’m satisfied, but I expected better from Cuisinart.
Terrible temperature control
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I owed 2 bread makers in the past and consider myself an experienced user. I had CBK-100 bread maker for a month and I have no success to make the whole wheat bread. Bread rise well during the first and the second rise cycle, but do not rise at all on the third rise cycle. I suspect that the temperature on the third rise cycle is too high and this kill the yeast. Return it to Amazon.
Broke on Third Use
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Loved the product on first two uses. On third use the dough paddle broke while kneading the pizza dough. The blade cracked in half.
We contacted customer services with Cuisnart who were very nice. The excellent news is that they are willing to send replacement part. The terrible news is that the part is ‘backordered’ and there is no date on availablity. No follow-up after one week.
Is this a recurring problem with these units that they can’t keep such a basic part in stock?
It simply works
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Its been more than a month now that I have been using this product nearly once a day. I set it up in the evening and have fresh bread in the morning. From the pictures I expected it to be larger than it really is. It fits well on my kitchen counter. I have used about four or five recipes that was included in its recipe book and so far all turned out really well. Overall I am quite pleased with the result so far. This is my first bread machine.
Wondeful for Gluten Free Bread Baking
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
My wife has Celiac disease and a excellent gluten free bread is impossible to find ready made. We must bake our own bread if she is going to have a bread that tastes excellent. We have found the bread mix from Gluten Free Pantry is fantastic. but our ancient bread machine, a Breadman Ultimate was not turning out a consistant product. It was less than a year ancient and quit working. Which turned out to be a blessing. Based on our experience with other Cuisinart products and the reviews on Amazon we chose on the Cusinart CBK-100. The gluten free cycle is perfect. It bakes the best gluten free bread we have ever had. We have used Gluten free pantry Sandwich bread mix and also Bob’s Red Mill gluten free multigrain mix. WOW! THe bread is so excellent that I even like it. This bread is light and the crust is perfect. It even is simpler to slice. If you are looking for a bread maker that turns out excelent gluten free bread this is the one to buy
