    Gluten Free bread
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have made several loafs of gluten free bread with this and have had brilliant results. This is my second breadmaker as I wore the first one out. I am a bachelor and if I want excellent bread it has to be simple. The results work for me !

I received my first breadmaker and had problems with it making a lot of noise. I checked how I inserted the bread bowl, tightened, etc. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t. After having my son and husband try to get it in tighter, having no success, I chose to get it replaced. Amazon was fantastic. They sent me a new one and it had the same problem. I contacted Cuisenart. They listened over the phone and said it was certainly not supposed to sound like that so I sent it back again. Amazon was wonderful. I traded it in for a different model. I won’t try this brand again.

    Fantastic Breadmaker

This is our third bread maker. It does every thing that we could question for and more. It mixes the ingredients better and more thoroughly than our previous 2 bread makers.

    Ok machine with some flaws
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
This bread maker came with a lot of useful information and recipes and everything worked well at first, but I wish that the machine was a small better made. I make bread nearly every day and am now on my 3rd pan for the breadmaker. Clearly this is something they know about since it is an accessory that you can easily buy from the Cuisinart web site. I would much rather have paid for a more expensive machine that used quality parts, but that doesn’t seem to be the case here (my first bread maker was a Black and Decker one that last for nearly 10 years). This one is approaching a year ancient, needs yet another pan, and is starting to squeak loudly, which is annoying if you’re using it make bread for first thing in the morning.

    In summary:

    the pros:

    looks nice

    excellent recipes and baking information

works well, if you don’t use it often

    the cons:

    shoddy parts

    gets noisy after a while

    doesn’t last

parts could wind up costing more than an new breadmaker

    HTH

    Fake Hope
    Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I have never written a review on a product before but after going through this ordeal I thought I better submit my input. After hours of reading reviews I finally chose on the CBK-200. I knew all the reviews weren’t fantastic but the excellent outweighed the terrible. I was so pleased because it had everything I wanted and more. I couldn’t wait to give it a try, I read the manual start to end(highly recommend this for any bread machine). I made cinnamon roll dough first and it made the best dough! Yay, so next I tried a whole wheat loaf baked in the machine…I used my recipe which turns out fantastic every time…except this one. The timer had 20 minutes left to bake and I could smell burning bread. I went to check on it and it was black on all four sides, the top a perfect crust. I was so disappointed and I know I set all the settings correctly. I had it on whole wheat, 2 lb loaf, medium crust. So I took it out early and then the machine gave me an error code HHH. I called customer service to see what it meant and all they said was unplug it wait 15 minutes and try again. So I did. I made the Chocolate Chip Cookie Bread recipe from the manual. I made the largest size, which is also the default size with light crust on sweet bread cycle. It rose perfectly and I was getting excited again smelling the wonderful bread baking. Towards the end I tried keeping an eye on it, with 17 minutes left it was dark brown, 5 minutes more and it would have been toast. So I saved the loaf and it did make wonderful, airy, chewy bread but I don’t want to worry about burning my bread every time. I returned it and bought a new one thinking I had a dud. Nope, this one did the same thing. I even had my mother come over and make a loaf with me to prove to myself I wasn’t doing anything incorrect! I reckon the thermostat must be off in these models or I just bought 2 duds(unlikely). I really wanted this bread machine to work, it makes wonderful dough and when the bread is watched and taken out early it is excellent. I finished up using this about 6 times all together and concluded I should trade it for a new brand. I have done my research again and I really want a Zojirushi but unfortunately can’t make myself spend that much money when there are other models with fantastic reviews. I have chose on the West Bend 41300 (supposed to be like the Zo), it has 4.5 stars with dual paddles and nearly the same features as the CBK-200 + more! West Bend bread makers have been around a while and reviewers say they last a long time…so here I go again, I really hope this one is THE ONE!!! I hope this helps.

Broke after a dozen or so uses – Silence from Cuisinart customer service
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
After a dozen or so uses the paddle in our machine stopped turning. It was out of warranty, so I pulled the plate off the bottom and could see that the large *plastic* gear that drives the paddle was completely mangled in the center. Could have easily fixed it myself, but after writing Cuisinart customer service a very polite note I heard nothing but crickets. Not a single answer.

Terrible bread machine, poor customer service, don’t waste the money.

    poor design
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I bought this machine as a present for my wife. On the first attempt to make bread, the machine sounded like a threshing machine. Of course the bread was a failure. The pan had come loose from the cup it sits in. On the second and third attempts, the mixing paddle came loose and embedded itself in the loaf of bread. In all tries the pan came loose from the mixing cup on the spindle and the machine had to be place on pause and the pan reseated. I DID NOT buy this from amazon. Now I wish I had since I cannot get any satisfaction from the company where I bought it.

    Junk
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I bought this item in June 2009. In July 2009 I contacted Cuisinart because I’d only used it twice and it broke. The paddle wouldn’t spin. They advised me that I could mail it back to them with a cheque for them to mail me a new one. This being completely ludicrous that I would pay shipping for this substandard machine that I already forked out $120 on, they agreed to pay the shipping. When I received the second Cuisinart breadmaker, I pulled it out of the box and the lid immediately fell off and a screw fell onto the floor. It was mottled with pry marks and dents. I again contacted Cuisinart and they arranged to have it picked up at my house again and then mailed me a third breadmaker. The third breadmaker I used only twice as the pan kept popping out of place and therefore the dough would not mix. AGAIN, I contacted Cuisinart and they informed me that since I had struck out with 3 of the same appliance, they would NOT send me another breadmaker but I could choose any item(s) from their website of equal or greater value. If the value was greater but, I had to send them a cheque to cover that value. If I chose on an item of lesser value, I would NOT receive a cheque, I would just lose that money. They will not refund my money. I am still trying to speak to a manager of their service department, but after 4 requests I am still being refused. I will never buy another Cuisinart product. I really regret buying all of the cuisinart appliances and cookware that I have bought based on this ridiculous experience.

    Fantastic Machine
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have owned three bread machines. This is by far my favorite (next to my very first small loaf bread maker “Mr. Loaf”). I wanted a machine that would make a larger loaf and this one does it with ease. I also like the fact that I can use it to make jam, etc. The instructions are simple to follow but I do have to admit that I was very disappointed in their “recipe book” because it has only a handful of recipes. Other manufacturers have been more generous with recipes showing off their machine’s capabilities. I have owned an Oster and a Panasonic and my Cuisinart is better than either one.

    Cuisinart Bread Maker
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is one terrific bread machine! I especially like the timer to remind you to pull the paddle. Removing the finished bread is simple, especially if you remove the paddle, as the pan coating allows the fresh bread to literally “drop” out of the pan. I’ve never had a loaf stick!!!

The controls are simple and allow simple setup for any size loaf (1, 1.5, 2 lb). Mix-in timer keeps nuts from being pounded to a pulp and the wide variety of settings allow custom baking for virtually any bread type and altitude.

The product is shipped in a solid package. Also included is an brilliant instruction book with fantastic recipes and a chart that specifies times for each baking cycle. On top of all this I got a terrific price at Amazon ($105) plus free shipping. A fantastic deal all around.

Got 2 excellent loaves, then it went to heck
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
The first two loaves were fantastic. Then they got terrible. wouldn’t rise. The 6 loaf – the machine sounded like a wrecking machine. It’s a lot of money for 2 excellent loaves of bread. Don’t buy it.

    Worn out paddle
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I made a lot of bread (3 loaves a week or more) for 2 1/2 months, satisfactorily, on this machine. Then the paddle/spindle metal apparently wore out, and the last loaf I made, a white with rye, the paddle went flying 6 times during the knead. I was so disappointed. This started happening about at month 2 and just got worse.

Also, I do not like the rise I get with this machine–really seems to need more time. loaves were often small no matter how much tinkering I did with the recipe.

Buying something else; Amazon won’t take it back, and i’m not paying to send it to Cuisinart.

    bread galore
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
It took a small longer to learn to use this but worth the time. It bakes the best bread. We tend to use it to get the bread to the last rise stage and then take it out, shape it and bake in the oven.

I really can’t say anything excellent
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I’ve been trying for 2 months to make something decent and the basic white bread is all I can achieve. Given that I can make fantastic bread from scratch and this is my 4th breadmaker, I can only conclude that this machine is very poorely engineered. Even the recipes do not reflect what the mainstream of most consumers want to bake; it’s fine to dealve into the esoteric artisan loaves, but maybe after you have covered off the basics such as rye bread using realistic ingredients.

    Fantastic bread machine.
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have the CBK-200 and LIKE it. I have used it of many types of bread and have had fantastic success with this machine. I have made white loaves, whole wheat loaves, loaves with add-ins… and even Gluten-free loaves. If I had had a problem it is either with the mix (gluten-free) that I have used or the recipe itself (don’t like most of the recipes that come with the machine–especially not the whole wheat ones). It is simple to use, once you learn what all the beeps are about. I would buy another (if/when I need it) in a heartbeat.

    Huge Disappointment
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I am not new to breadmakers. The Cuisinart CBK 200 was my third, and the worst breadmaker I ever owned. I made bread in it 5 times and finished up with hockey pucks every time. I tested all my ingredients and they were fine. Tried to make bread dough using the dough cycle, the dough was completely dry on top and had to be thrown out. The machine has a nice appearance but is very loud when in use.

Broken in less than 6 months
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
We bought this unit in April 09. At first I absolutely loved it. It makes fantastic bread. Simple and user friendly. I liked that you can remove the blade (when you remember)

But, after about 6 months the plastic hinges that holds the lid in place have cracked and broken off so it no longer stays in place. Each time we open the bread maker it falls off. Since it is really hot you easily get burned.

I called Cuisinart today to request a replacement. Well it is going to cost me. They charge you for shipping you a new unit and then you have to send the ancient one back at your own expense. I can tell you it can get expensive since the product alone weighs 25 pounds.

I am extremely disappointed and I will not buy another Cuisinart product.

    So far I’m very pleased
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
So far I’ve made about four loaves in my machine, and many more dough (pizza, rolls, and specialty bread). I’m impressed and I have quickly converted my family from store breads to our own made at home. I like knowing the ingredient list is about 4-8 items deep and not 20 unpronounceable ingredients.
